Fashion Frenzy: 100 Years of Clothing History
How does a fad differ from a fashion? Who decides what’s fashionable? How is fashion affected by economic, social, and political events? Fashion Frenzy answers these and other questions as it tracks clothing trends across the turbulent 20th century with a teen narrator, a fashion expert, vintage videos, and a fabulous fashion show. Designing Fashion
This program illustrates how fashion designers turn their concepts into end products. Over the course of the video, viewers will see how fashion designers visually develop their ideas, how they use CAD to enhance and support their work, and the steps involved in sampling, patternmaking, and production. Interviews with industry insiders are featured as well: Vanessa Rochman, head designer for international label Metalicus, shares what inspires her to create a fashion story for upcoming collections; Nadiele Kolb, fashion designer for Australian label Since Grey, explains how she outsources the production of her designs; and world-renowned designer/artist Kaffe Fassett discusses how he uses the elements and principles of design to create colorful textiles and fabrics. Confessions of a Fashion Designer
The formal dresses of DeBora Rachelle Designs have been worn at major award programs and formal dances all over the world. This Telly Award-winning video shows what it takes to be a successful fashion designer and provides a behind-the-scenes look at a fitting session. The program also gives viewers a clear picture of the educational requirements, typical starting salary, and employment outlook for the position of fashion designer. The Trend: Where Fashion Begins
From Paris to London, Monte Carlo to Milan, and Munich to LA, taste-makers Li Edelkoort, Gucci’s Tom Ford, and Werner Baldessarini, of Hugo Boss, seek to identify the spirit of the age wherever they can find it—and then translate it into the next big trend in fashions. In this program, Edelkoort, Ford, Baldessarini, and others unravel the intricacies of clothing-oriented trend-spotting. In addition, parallel examples of trend-spotting are drawn from BMW subsidiary Designworks/USA, since the automotive industry is as driven by taste as the clothing industry is.
