Using the Library for Children's Materials and Research

This Guide will introduce students to print and electronic resources in the field of Children’s Literature. This field is a vast and exciting specialty in literature. Areas of research can include:

  • study of the genres of literature for children,
  • author and illustrator research
  • selection of appropriate materials for specific purposes
  • multicultural literature
  • awards of excellence
  • the pleasure of reading children's books.

It is important to distinguish between finding actual children’s books and sources about children’s literature.
