WORKSHOP I:  Library Lowdown

In this basic library refresher workshop, you will learn:

• Library services available to you at the MCC libraries
• Resources available in the library and how to find them
• How to search the library catalog and find books in the library

This workshop is great for students who are new to using the MCC libraries. 

WORKSHOP II:  Search Strategies: Best Practices for Database Searching

In this database searching basics workshop, you will learn:

• How to select the best database for your topic
• Choosing the best search terms for your topic and creating a search strategy
• Identifying tools and limiters for effective database searching
• How to locate scholarly (peer-reviewed) and popular resources

This workshop is great for students who need help getting started with searching library databases.

WORKSHOP III:  Avoiding Plagiarism: MLA & APA Made Easy

In this workshop, you will learn:

• The basics of plagiarism, academic integrity and MLA and APA format
• How to determine when and when not to cite
• When to use direct quotations vs. paraphrasing
• Tips and tricks for creating MLA and APA citations

WORKSHOP IV:  Ramp up Your Google Research!

In this workshop, you will learn:

• Advanced tools and settings for better search results using Google
• Tips & tricks for narrowing your search results
• How to recognize reliable sources
• Citing open web sources
