Use this guide for tips on evaluating web sites. Example web sites are included to demonstrate good vs. bad web sites.

Evaluating Web Sites Activity

1. Examine the 2 websites above.

2. Apply the CRAAP test to each website.

3. Determine which website you would trust and why.

In addition to applying the CRAAP test here are some other tips to consider:

  • Check the "About" or "Contact" links
  • Look for a last updated or copyright date
  • Be mindful of the URL - personal web pages often include the person's name
  • Check the extension - .org, .com, .net, .edu, etc.
  • Check for errors in spelling or page format
  • Beware of broken links 
  • Look for a "Disclaimer" link
