Health Topic Ideas

Choosing a Topic

Choosing a good research topic is the first step to research success. Here are a few tips to help you get started in choosing a research topic for your honors project.

1. Brainstorm for ideas

Look over the list of broad health problem/issue topics provided by your instructor. You can choose a topic from this list or propose something new you may want to research. Here are a few questions to get you thinking:

  • What interests you?
  • What do you feel passionate about?
  • What do you want to learn more about?
  • What makes you happy, sad, angry?

Be sure to talk your topic through with your instructor or a librarian. The most important thing is to choose a research topic that you want to research!

Once you've chosen your topic, the next step is to educate yourself on the health problem/issue you plan to research by collecting background information.
