Chemistry Research

Research in the physical sciences, particularly biochemistry, may be new to many students. This guide will cover how the library can help you to become a better science researcher.

What is a Library Database?

A library database is a searchable electronic index of published, reliable resources. Databases provide access to a wealth of useful research materials from academic journals, newspapers, and magazines. Some databases also include e-books, relevant Web resources, and various multimedia.  All of the MCC library's databases can be utilized from on- or off-campus, 24/7.

Library databases are particularly important to research in the sciences because so much of the material you need will be in the form of scholarly journals that are often locked behind a paywall unless your library provides access.

MCC library's databases that are good for research in chemistry and the physical sciences include the following:

Note that you will have to log in with your MEID and password for off-campus access.

There are two ways to search the Library's database, One Search and individually.
