Tables & Figures

Tables and figures can be used to efficiently describe results or share data. APA provides guidelines and details for incorporating tables and figures into your work in chapter 7 of the APA Publication Manual (7th edition). Copies of the manual are available at both of the MCC Library reference desks. You can also refer to the APA Style website for details on incorporating tables and figures along with examples of tables and figures:

What are tables and figures?

  • Tables share numerical values and/or textual information arranged in columns and rows.
  • Figures is an umbrella term for any chart, graph, photograph, drawing, plot, infographic, or basically any illustration that is not a table.

Tables and figures can either be embedded within your text or placed on separate pages (one table or figure per page) after your References list.
